World News: In a sensational murder on Friday, a man after knifing and killing his wife, walked straight up to the police station in Haldwani and confessed his crime. The deceased, Vimla Bisht (24), was selected in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and was training in Chandigarh. She had come to meet Naveen Dhoni (25) in Haldwani.
According to Sweety Agarwal, senior superintendent of police, Nainital district, "The accused has been sent behind bars and case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the IPC, including section 302 (murder)."
The couple had met while studying in college in Pithoragarh two years ago. They married in June last year at a temple in Pithoragarh district. The police have recovered the murder weapon and further investigations are on. It is believed that Dhoni objected to Vimla's "friendship" with a fellow trainee and this may have led to the murder.
The accused had bought a knife for Rs 150 from a local grocery store to commit the crime. Their call records and other communication channels are also being checked to ascertain the reason for such an extreme step, police said.
